PILATES

The Pilates technique is a combination of floor exercises supervised by extensively trained and qualified instructor.  This exercise system that focuses on improving flexibility and strength for the total body. Movements are slow, fluid and controlled and are co-ordinated to help focus mind/body awareness with a strong centred feeling.  Control of breathing and movements is emphasised and the body is conditioned to maintain good posture with absolute abdominal control.

Pilates refrains the body, muscles elongate the joints are freed to achieve natural alignment. It conditions muscles to support the spines natural curve. Lower back problems are often alleviated.

The methods goal is to create a function of body and mind. Imagine an exercise programme that you will look forward to , that energises you, and that leaves you refreshed and alert with a feeling of physical and mental well being.

Pilates videos, both mat-work or armchair, are available for sale at the Centre.
