MS Challenge 2010

1. DETAILS

Each year a fund raising event has taken place whereby teams from all parts of the British Isles have gathered in Snowdonia. This year the event has been transferred to the Brecon Beacons. Their challenge is to carry a wheelchair passenger with MS safely over a demanding hill course. Details as follows:

Dates: Saturday 19th June 2010

Where? Pant-y-Rhiw Royal Navy Adventure Centre. Talybont on Usk.
Have a look at the Forestry Commission Talybont web site. Taff Trail for the location.

Route: You will receive navigation instructions and a map on the day. Each team will be timed but the event is
not a race and there are no prizes for coming first! Your safety and that of your passenger is paramount. There will be trained Marshals with radios situated around the course to assist.

Team: Minimum of 10, maximum of 12 people plus MS passenger (12 team members is the recommended number).

Equipment: Teams are responsible for assembling their own equipment, subject to approval by the marshals. Carrying frames will be provided at the event and the Centres will supply their own wheelchairs.

Guidance: Your Centre will provide you with further detailed guidance (e.g. available accommodation details, maps, possible arrangement changes) in advance of the event, and a support team will be there on the day.

Sponsors: Each member of the team, including the wheelchair passenger, is responsible for getting their own sponsorship. Centres will provide sponsor forms, a sample form is provided in this pack
.
Costs: An entry fee of £125 per team is charged. Teams are encouraged to seek corporate sponsorship for this fee, although if necessary it will be paid by the Therapy Centre and recovered from sponsorship raised.
